Greenville, South Carolina - The 2012 Upstate Black Expo weekend will kickoff Friday June 15th by shining the spotlight on some of the areas best chefs, caterers and restaurants plus a special appearance by Erika Davis, a contestant on the first season of Bravo’s “Top Chefs Desserts” Show.
“We’ve incorporated “The Taste” in other markets and definitely wanted to add this unique event to the Upstate, to highlight the culinary creations of this region”, said Jeannie Jackson, VP of Marketing at Thomas Media Group, which produces Black Expo and Black Pages. Food is an integral part of all our lives and there are several minority chefs and caterers in the Upstate that deserve more exposure!
“Taste of the Upstate” will give chefs a chance to highlight some of their signature dishes in a festive atmosphere at the Hyatt Regency Greenville. Attendees will enjoy great food from over 25 chefs, caterers and restaurants, and mingle with local business leaders and Black Expo sponsors, all while helping to benefit a local charity. Partial Proceeds from “A Taste of the Upstate” will benefit Freedom Within Walls, which provides recourses and opportunities for disadvantaged, distressed and impoverished youth and adults
