Community Fun Day/Voter Education Rally to be on Sept. 29th

First time in Greenville’s History, write- in process calls for a Community Fun Day to Educate Voters.

For this election season Michael F. Barnes and Dexter L. Reaves are sponsoring the Community Fun Day, Educating Voters Rally, to educate voters on the write-in process taking place at poll booths on Election Day. On September 29, 2012 the Community Fun Day, Educating Voters Rally will be at the Suber Road Soccer Complex located on 305 Suber Road, Greer, SC 29651 (off of HWY 29, Wade Hampton Boulevard.) From 8:00am to 12pm. (9/24/2012).In support of educating voters, there will be a number of vendors and organizations who will give educational presentations which includes the Greenville County Election Commission, providing literature and a poll booth demonstration, the City of Greer Fire Department providing fire safety tips and Resurrected Treasure Ministries who will be on site with information about their various programs which are: GED tutoring, After School Programs as well as Health and Wellness programs ( http://www.resurrectedtreasure.org/). For fun and relaxation there will be food, face painting from 10am to 11am, an inflatable playhouse and Majestic Touch at Integrity Salon giving massages and much more.

There will be recognition of community leaders and guest speakers at 8:30am which are the Honorable Wayne Griffin (City of Greer Councilman), Martha Lucia (Radio personality of the Martha Lucia Show of 103.9 FM) and Traci Fant of Think2XTwice.org; Mike Barnes (Write in candidate Greenville County District 18) and Dexter Reaves (candidate for Sheriff of Greenville County). Michael F. Barnes, also known as Mike Barnes, has owned Barnes Towing for 30 years. Mr. Barnes serves on the Greenville County Planning Commission and currently on the Board of Directors for the Recovery Association of South Carolina. In addition, he participates with two teams for Greer’s Relay for Life, supporting the American Cancer Society and donates his towing services and facility to the local police and Fire Departments for continuing education and training.

Dexter L. Reaves is an active humanitarian, who is devoted to addressing concerns of safety for the citizens of Greenville County. Mr. Reaves is also a former Police Officer with the City of Greer and former deputy with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office; and currently an Intervention Specialist with Greenville County Schools.
